brightness equalizer is an iMovie plug-in that lets you exert photoshop-level control over brightness in your clips. it works similar to brightness curve adjust, except that instead of setting in/out values absolutely, you set them relatively (like in an audio equalizer).
a pixel's brightness is determined by it’s composition of red, green, and blue values. a perfect digital image has a linear brightness range running straight from zero (darkest) to 255 (brightest). however, most devices (and especially photo paper) do not exhibit linear properties when recording images. the straight line becomes distorted. this plug-in can either distort or repair a clip’s brightness curve.
